YOGA
This ancient mind-body practice is a form of relaxation through movement. Our fast-paced culture keeps us operating from
our sympathetic nervous system, the flight-or-fight pattern, where our body secretes stress hormones, which cause
anxious feelings and attack our immune system. Yoga shifts us to the parasympathetic system, where we return to our
natural, relaxed state of being, like “hitting the reset button” on your body, mind and spirit.

Music and sound have been used as healing modalities by various cultures for centuries. Like massage therapy,
which delivers healing through touch, essentially music and sound are sensory therapies which can help to ease, energize,
organize and empower us.
MEDITATION/MINDFULNESS
Scientific research confirms that meditation triggers certain “feel good” neurotransmitters, like Serotonin and Dopamine,
while decreasing neurotransmitters/hormones that contribute to anxiety (like norepinephrine and cortisol). Mindfulness is
a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you are sensing and feeling in the moment.
This can involve breathing techniques, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind.
Meditation and Mindfulness help you maintain a balance in your brain chemicals and hormones, which is key to feeling
in a balanced mood. This balanced mood improves your sleep, memory, attention span and quality of life.
